Me, Myself
The Spring 2009 campaign website needed to be redesigned.  An expensive mix and match tool was implemented causing the architectural organization of the site to be quite messy.  This was resolved by adding more functionality and organizing UX in a more intuitive manner for Fall 2009 continuation.

		<description>Over the past 11 years I have lived in 9 cities and 3 countries.  In the past 3 years I visited 12 countries.  Realizing the value of my own personal content, in 2007 I decided to take a sabbatical from the corporate world.  I quit my full-time job as an art director in NYC and moved to Venice Beach, CA.  I had always struggled with doing commercial art since I grew up as, and schooled as, a fine artist.  It had been 7 years since I had touched drawing, even longer for printmaking.  I also felt a responsibility to utilize my creative skills for social good, which was absent in my professional career.  Here are some of the things I have been developing outside my professional life.



PRISM GALLERY
There is nothing like quitting a professional paying job to work as an unpaid intern at an art gallery to reconnect with your roots.  It actually is completely freeing.  I have met some of my idols, even had a chance to collaborate with them.  Many thanks to Jen, PC and Will for an experience that brought me closer to 'home.'

3 YEARS 32 PAGES 
People kept asking me what I've been up to the past 3 years.  I found myself telling them, "Just going to yoga, the spa and getting my nails done."  Which equated to also telling myself "I do nothing."   Which was far from true considering the time spent collecting life experience.  So, I have started a book to visually explain what i have been up to the past 3 years.  To prevent feeling overwhelmed, I have limited it to 32 pages.

MENTORING  AT CREATE NOW
Certain events happened in my childhood and now serve as a constant reminder of what I can do for people in similar situations.  I met Jill Gurr at a DIY art fair in downtown LA.  She told me about her non-profit organization, CreateNow, which helps encourage the use of arts as positive expression in troubled youth.  Once a week for a year I would spend time with the girls at The Pennacle Foundation, a foster home located in Inglewood, CA, doing arts and crafts.

STOP MOTION
While waiting for my best friend Kyoko to get off of work,  I decided to start learning stop motion.  






PROOF OF LIFE
In broad daylight during the Hollywood Farmer's Market, I was physically attacked by a bum.  It put me in a state of sadness for awhile.  I had not done anything to provoke him.  That's when I realized the reason he acted out may have been a build up of never being acknowledged.  It made me think about how many homeless are never acknowledged as human beings.
  
It changed my attitude towards them.  Not in a way of pity or guilt, but in a way of recognizing they are my neighbors, especially in Venice.  Now I never rush by or cross the street to avoid.  I say hello, I have conversations and I listen.  People are people.  Every human has a story.  I started to take photographs of my neighbors' possessions, their art and what they collect.  I hope to use these in a way start a dialogue of understanding the simple value of saying 'Hello.'

I have two true loves at the moment, the Pacific Ocean and traveling.  Since I never was formally trained in graphic design I like to use what I collect to practice and experiment witih design.

Magazine inserts were made of biodegradable paper pulp containing seeds from the 10 botanicals used to create Bombay Sapphire Gin.  To extend the print campaign, Bombay Botanical Gardens were created in major markets.  Consumers were invited, via the print, to find a botanical garden in their area.  Once there, they were able to plant the inserts.  Over time, consumers can return to the botanical garden and view the progress of their plantings.

In 2007, I decided to take a break from the advertising world.  I was looking to utilize my creative skills for social good.  For the past three years I have been working with FreeForm, now Wondros, on non-profit healthcare reform projects.  My role ranges from art direction, branding, design, writing, and socializing with people to spread awareness.

Improving Health Through Health Technology
The Beacon Community Cooperative Agreement Program provides funding to 17 selected communities currently making headway in information health technology.  Goals vary within the individual health care needs of each community.  It is the hope measured success within the individual communties can translate regionally and nationally.

We learned 40% of small businesses fold because they do not back up their data.  One of the favorite subjects of photographer Todd Hido is shooting foreclosed homes.  We applied his talents to abandoned dot com buildings in San Francisco.

Feel Happy
Biolase created the Waterlase Dentistry, a tool replacing the traditional dental drill allowing dentists to perform virtually painless root canals without anesthesia.  We needed to make patients aware they had an option outside the traditional dental drill.  So we created a brand concept, look and feel evoking happiness to redirect patient fears to love the dentist, hate the tools and Feel Happy.

Nike soccer players told their stories about growing up playing football.  Using the illustration of David Foldvari, Nike Football Asia Pacific websites, Japan, Bangkok &#38; Shanghai were created.  After which, the retail print campaign was created.
